5 Things To Do To Improve Your Life

At some point, we all want to change our lives or some aspects of them. But we must first be grateful for the things we already have accomplished or the things we have to be able to move forward and create new opportunities. These aren’t as common as some other tips and tricks, which is why you should make sure that you include these.

#1 Make a to-do list and focus on it.

Start your day with a list of to-do tasks you want to complete and this will help you to stay on task and focused. These days can be far more productive than just going along and hoping you’re getting your tasks done. It can be as simple as a piece of paper with your tasks written down, or you can use a software program like Trello or Asana to track your tasks. It’s up to you to decide what works best for you. It doesn’t have to be a long list. You can only do one thing to do that you think is really important to do because if you write too many things to do, you might end up overwhelmed and you won’t even accomplish half of it.

#2 Acknowledge you have flaws.

We all have flaws. We often try to hide them or pretend they don't exist, but that only makes them harder to deal with. by acknowledging you have flaws and then you can begin to work on them. You can decide how you can fix your flaws, but to do that you have to first recognize them. It helps to make a list. Yes, that’s right – a list of everything you feel is wrong with you. By doing so you will also recognize that some of the things you think are flaws are actually what makes you unique and what others like about you. Be fair when you are analyzing your list. Our flaws can make us more compassionate, more understanding, and more empathetic. They can also help us relate to others who have similar struggles.

#3 Learn from those who inspire you.

There are people you admire and inspire you. They have certain qualities you would like to have. Good news – you too can have what you admire. There are all sorts of people in the world who can inspire us, from our friends and family to celebrities and public figures. It doesn’t matter who they are, what matters is that we allow their example to motivate us to be better people.

When we find someone who inspires us, we should take the time to learn about them and what it is that makes them so special. We can read their story, watch interviews with them, or even just spend time in their company. By doing this, we can begin to understand what it is that makes them tick and how we can apply their lessons to our own lives. One of the most important things we can learn from those who inspire us is that it’s never too late to make a change in our lives. No matter how old you are or how stuck you feel, you always have the power to make a difference for yourself and inspire other people.

#4 Set huge goals.

Dream big, set those goals as big as you can dream. Stretch yourself far beyond your normal capacity – be big and bold. List things you would not normally attempt and then challenge yourself to carry them out. For a long time, I subscribed to the fact that we shouldn’t dream big because we have to stick to what is normal. Meaning going to school, having a corporate job, being a good employee, getting married, buying a house, having kids, and retiring. But that’s not true at all. When it comes to setting goals, there's no such thing as too big. The bigger the goal, the better. Why? Because big goals inspire us to take action and push ourselves harder than we ever thought possible. The best big goals are ones that slightly stretch you outside of your comfort zone. They should be goals that make you think, "Wow, that would be amazing if I could achieve that!"

No matter what your big goal is, make sure you have a plan in place to make it happen and that you are ready to commit to it 200%. Start working on it today !

#5 Give up a bad habit.

We all have at least a couple of bad habits. When we think of bad habits, we think of smoking, drinking too much, not exercising, etc. But other bad habits can be self-sabotaging. Maybe you slouch or bite your nails, because you are stressed, or spending too much time on the phone. Maybe you are always late. You don’t really see them as a bad habit because they make you feel safe and it’s like you can’t help it. However, big or little your bad habit is, now’s a great time to work on fixing it. There are a few things you can do to increase your chances of success. First, identify the triggers that lead to your bad habit. Once you know what causes you to engage in the behavior, you can work on avoiding those triggers. Second, make a plan for what you will do instead of engaging in bad habits. This can help you to avoid boredom or frustration, which can lead to a relapse. Finally, be patient with yourself and don't expect perfection. Habits take time to form, so it's important to give yourself time to adjust to the change. If you slip up, don't give up – just get back on track and keep working at it.
